Art

I dont often produce a piece of art, but I am happy with this, its not properly finished but it feels finished to me. This is Zhang Liao a warrior on the side of Wei in the Three Kingdoms era of China in 200BC, his is a character in the book who is both a great warrior and follows the way of honour. It is all drawn in pencil, ranging different softness.

I saw in an XBOX 360 magazine that there was this softwere called the XNA editor. Apparently with this you can easily make games for the PC or XBOX 360. I have dowloaded all the components and I am looking into it now.

I have owned Civilization for a few years but only recently got into altering the game. Here I am trying two ideas, the first I have tried to give the player the choice of trying out playing as different civilizations that start on very different conditions, for example one place you start on is full of tropical islands and you make a living through the sea and battle pirates and such, and another in a mass of hills, mountains and forest with meat and furs as resources. It was a test of variation. Civilisation is a game where you play an in-depth reality that can either be made up or reflect a real scenario, you raise your own civilisation and control grown, development, people, war and government, amongst much more. On my second mod I have started a scenario that imitates the famous three kingdoms period in China. You can choose from Wei, Wu, Shu, Ma Teng, Yuan Shao, The Nanman, Liu Piao and many other small factions. This leaves the resolution of the battle to the player.

Here I was inspired by the James Bond movie For Your Eyes only. When I watched the final scene where they infiltrate a monastery, have the final fight, retrieve the stolen device and rescue the girl, I thought how it could be turned into a playable level because of the sequence of tasks and steady story advancement it had as the story resolves. I thought of the alternative ways to do the level and the choice to stealth it or not and the consequence of the decision. Here I have started design on the main structure and trying to exact the features and scale from looking at scenes and screenshots of the movie.

Here I am practicing using Google Sketchup. I created a tree stump to be used in a virtual environment; there is both a high quality version and a low quality version which takes up less memory. The reason there are two different kinds is because of certain restrictions virtual environments have. For example a busy environment with a lot of objects would require a low quality version because of the likelihood of memory problems. I created this through starting off with a cylinder base and wavy base, then connect the two to each other, and then applied my own curves e.t.c.
